In this 5-week series with Austin, you'll systematically explore the Reformer, Magic Circle, Cadillac, Small Barrel, and Wunda Chair. Whether you've never taken a class on the "equipment" before or are experienced but want to learn to maximize the effectiveness of each exercise, this series is a great opportunity to see how the different pieces of apparatus each have something unique to say to your body but in a united voice.
What is "Foundational?"
Joe Pilates did not have levels for exercises in his studio, and neither do we. We use "foundational" to refer to the exercises that virtually everyone does, from new practitioners to experienced teachers. These exercises are the foundation of the work we do.
What is "Contrology?"
Joe Pilates originally called his method Contrology. "Contrology develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit," he wrote in his book Return to Life.
How does this series work?
This class meets every week for five weeks in a row. The content has been carefully planned to build systematically, so there are no drop-ins, transfers, or early cancellations allowed. If you must miss a class, you may take a private lesson with Austin that week for just $17 to make up what you've missed. This format is unique to our other drop-in group classes.
How many people will be in class?
As always, our classes are limited to just three people.
How do I continue my Pilates practice after this series?
You will be well-prepared to join our non-series classes, or you can sign up for a more advanced series! Austin will be adding more to his schedule in the near future.
